We have left Paris, flew to Montpelier (flight delayed due to a strike), traveled to the coast to La Grande Motte, and boarded Lady Anne. I must say, I really do like this quirky beach town with its crazy buildings and bright colors. The air is dry and crisp, making walking a pleasure. The best part of our return was seeing all our friends at Outremer, revisiting favorite restaurants, and the “marche aux poissons” (fish market) where everyone recognized us. Just to see their expressions, when they realize who we are, is worth a million words. We had spent so much time here last year I guess us “non-speaking” French are hard to forget! Especially when my friend in the fish market reminded me the proper way to open a butter container to avoid stitches!
Nonetheless, it was gratifying to be back on the boat and be busy. Our days are spent getting re-acclimated with “boat life”, reviewing operational procedures, cleaning, and provisioning. So far, all is good despite the weather; it was almost freezing on our first night. Rich bought a space heater first thing next day! This space heater will become invaluable over the next few weeks.
