We have left Corfu and have anchored outside the small harbor town of Lakka. It was stunning. The coastline was more sandy than rocky and the plants and trees are a deep vibrant green. The thick treeline along the shore is great sun protection for swimmers instead of the usual beach umbrellas. This anchorage is so popular as many as eighty boats can be anchored at one time. You need to get there early to ensure the best seat in the house!
The town is not terribly big but has that labyrinth feel in which the streets turn every which way, opening to more unexpected jaw-dropping sights. There are several resort type accommodations on the island, waterfront cafes, and boutiques along the cobblestone streets. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, despite the rise in the air temperature. Folks here are so climatized, they are still wearing jeans!
Did I tell you we woke up to the cry of roosters?! You just never know…
