Bonjour! We are excited to visit Paris (April 3-5) for a few days before we head to La Grande Motte. Despite the vibrant blue sky, the weather is a bit colder than we had anticipated. Noticeably, the foliage is behind ours in Georgia, where the daffodils have bloomed and the azaleas are budding; the spring season here is just beginning. Learning the “art of layering” clothes, needed for the brisk mornings that lead to warmer afternoons, is a skill we have mastered!
One thing that is very apparent here is how clean the city is compared to New York City. I was just visiting the Big Apple with my daughters and came away very sadden seeing the dismal state of the city. Luckily, the fabulous food soothes the bleakness of it all. As seen on the news, we have seen some protesting and a few strikes in Paris, but there is a strong police/militia presence and things appear to be under control. We have not experienced any troubles.
Highlights of our stay in here include visiting Willi’s Wine Bar (in honor of Carolyn FitzGerald, cousin), climbing all 674 stairs to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower while then having a drink at the bar, and exploring neighborhoods we had not experienced in the past. Here are pictures of the area, the foliage, and the Eiffel Tower.
